The ATQ Union Collective Agreement states there is an entitlement for
payment of wages for wet days, the Host Employer will be charged
under the following conditions:
1. Host Employer is always charged for the first wet day in any rain
period, this can be a full day or part day
2. If it rains the next day and the Host Employer has told the
apprentice not to report to work the Host Employer is not charged,
however if you have told the apprentice to report for work and you
then send them home because of rain you will be charged.
3. If it rains for the next two days (four consecutive days in total) the
Host Employer is not charged, providing the apprentice has been
told not to report for work
4. If however it rains for one day, it does not rain for the next day and
the apprentice works, but rains again on the third day the Host
Employer will be charged for both days as the first wet day for a
period as the rain was not consecutive
Apprentices can only be paid a maximum of 4 wet days in any calendar
month. Apprentices MUST telephone the office before 8.30am on the day to notify
All Trades Queensland of the wet day so that we can make arrangements
for other work for them for the day, if they do not phone before 8.30am they
will not be paid for the day.
