The role of an auto electrician involves working in a hands-on capacity with vehicles, testing and assessing them, and finding potential electrical faults. You’ll be installing and repairing electronic equipment and may work on any type of vehicle, from passenger vehicles in a local suburban repair shop through to huge mining vehicles out in the Pilbara.
As part of your auto electrician apprenticeship, you will enter into a training contract with one of our clients as your employer, where you’ll learn practical skills and gain invaluable real-world experience in the industry. To fulfil all the requirements for your apprenticeship, you will also spend time in the classroom undergoing structured learning.

As an Automotive Electrician, You Will:
Work with computerised engine management systems
Service, identify and repair faults on electronically controlled vehicle systems such as electronic fuel injection, electronic ignition, anti-lock braking, cruise control, automatic transmission, airbags and air conditioning
Install electrical equipment like gauges, lighting, alternators and starter motors in vehicles
Install electrically operated accessories like radios, heating or demisting equipment, air conditioners, driving lamps and anti-theft systems
Read and refer to circuit diagrams and use meters to test instruments and to find faults
Adjust engine control systems and timing to ensure that vehicles are operating at peak performance
Test, recondition and replace faulty alternators, generators, starter motors and related items such as voltage regulators and batteries
Adhere to Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) requirements, policies and procedures
